Tracy Green Energy and Desalination Project
Our latest facility partners with the City of Tracy, CA to process water. The system also include a steam tube drier that is used for drying agricultural products as well as an 8 MW steam turbine / generator. The capacity of this facility is 400,000 gallons per day.
“The Tracy community is fortunate to have Frank Schubert and his team from Tracy Renewable Energy select our hometown as a place to build on our sustainable values and offer our residents clean water, power, and fresher air while providing economic opportunities for our local manufacturing and agriculture businesses.”

Featured Customer: Heirloom
Heirloom leverages the best of nature and engineering to permanently remove CO2 from the atmosphere. In a world first for Direct Air Capture technology, Heirloom's facility in Tracy, California, is capturing CO2 from the atmosphere which is then embedded permanently in concrete. This CO2-enriched concrete is laid in the foundations of buildings and structures, with the added benefit of creating stronger concrete.

Partnership: Tracy Earth Project
Tracy Renewable Energy has partnered with the Tracy Earth Project for two years, providing funding for their initiatives and organizing tours and workshops for members and high school students to help educate them on best environmental practices.
“The main focus is to help us reach goals. We can have a healthier community, or state. A healthier planet. It is to me fascinating with all of the different elements that he’s working with here. We’re so blessed to have this facility in Tracy. We don’t showcase enough of all of the great commitments that are local to help our environment.”

Future Initiative: Cummins
In a groundbreaking partnership with Cummins, we are spearheading the development of small-scale gasifiers. These gasifiers will produce biochar, a valuable resource for local farmers when applied to the soil. Notably, the scalability potential of this initiative is substantial, holding promise for a significant impact on carbon reduction efforts. TRE’s commitment to sustainability and innovation is exemplified by its adept utilization of waste biomass, specifically walnut and pistachio shells. Processing an impressive 5.5 tons per hour, this transformative approach yields clean water and clean power, while at the same time sequestering CO2.

Technology Advancement: Reactive Surfaces
Reactive Surfaces has been innovating with bio-based additives for over two decades, focusing on photosynthetic algae for carbon capture and sequestration. Their core innovation is a modular system using algae embedded in a porous substrate to capture and sequester CO₂ from the environment. The process leverages a plant-derived material that retains water and supports algal growth, which is then dried and converted to biochar for durable sequestration. This approach not only captures CO₂ but also releases oxygen as a byproduct. The leadership team includes Dr. Steve McDaniel, a pioneer in carbon capture technologies, and Beth McDaniel, who leads the company's efforts in sustainable solutions.
